The Long Trip Home

Oct 20, 2011 1 Comment by

After 10 long months on the road, I was heading back home to the States. My trip went something like this:

Flight to Stockholm

Flight to Iceland

Flight to Minneapolis

DRIVE to Kansas City

OK all of this went according to plan until the drive. It was only 6pm when I arrived in MN but I had been awake for almost 36 hours. And that drive through Iowa is BORING. But I did have a gancy boat of a car.

Lookie, a big american car!

And this was the view as I headed out.

Oh midwest, how I haven't missed you.

These are the things I came up with that I didn’t miss on the drive:

  • skunks
  • semi-trucks
  • manure
  • speed traps
  • construction

Those things? No bueno. I would like to give them back.

I was so hyped up on caffeine but was still about to fall asleep at the wheel. Thankfully, my brother was willing to meet me at the airport drop-off, so I wouldn’t have to drive all the way out to mom’s. Good thing as there was no way I would have made it another hour. But safe and sound back in the USA. Next stop, CO!
