I stand corrected

Perth has a rockstar transit system and the trains are fabulous. I took one as far south as I got get, into a town called Mandurah. It’s mainly known for it’s Venetian Canals that run throughout the city.  Now I’ve been to Venice. It’s my favorite place on earth and I gotta say I was unsure about these canals.  I mean, it’s Australia. You’re known for kangaroos and koalas and Crocodile Dundee ( I am sorry about that last one). So first thing off the train I went in search of them.

Now originally I took this photo to show exactly how NOT like Venice this town was. And how silly these canals were. And how this had been a colossal waste of my time. But then I saw this…

A DOLPHIN! IN THE MIDDLE OF THE FREAKIN CANAL! I have no shame, I stalked this guy all around the edge. Eventually I got close enough I could have petted him. Except for the fact that he was currently chasing a fish and I didn’t want my hand to get bitten. He was just playing with the poor fish. He’d get it trapped against the wall and then take it in his mouth and then let him go. But I so didn’t care cause I got to see WILD dolphins up close!

I take it all back Mandurah, you’re seriously frackin cool. After he finally left the area and swam back out to sea, I decided to continue wandering around. Found a bridge with a path underneath the roadway. I can’t resist the underside of bridges! This one had a fishing platform and it was full of people trying to catch their dinner. Even this guy…

I was super stoked to see a pelican this close and man, they are BIG! He was just floating alongside the bridge hoping for someone to drop a fish. But after awhile, he got kinda creepy. Look at those eyes, he was hungry enough to eat people instead! So I left and found myself a pretty beach. Hi mom!

They have an awesome war memorial on the edge of the ocean for all the fighters from West Australia.

Most of the pillars had engravings on them, depicting parts of war. Loads of them were completely illegible. Where was mom and her crayons?!?!

And to finish off this post: who wouldn’t want to eat at the Yummy Noodle Box?! It looks so yummy!

Australia is strange…
